School curriculum
Since 80% of a child's mental development takes place before the child is eight years old, quality education during this period is critical. In the Montessori tradition, each class is a prepared environment, alive with a wealth of intriguing materials. Children move at their own pace through practical life, sensory, language, mathematics, cultural studies, and creative arts.
Blooming Lights Montessori School delivers a curriculum that is balanced, challenging, and full. At the elementary level we blend the Nigerian curriculum with British enrichment (especially language and science) and Montessori resources (especially humanities).
3 months to one year
Creche
Our children’s world of beauty can be described as a home away from home. Babies naturally explore their world through daily activities that support sensory, fine and gross motor development, and coordination — with story reading, picture reading, and Montessori activities designed for their ages.
1–5 / 6 years · Montessori prepared environment
Preschool
We deliver a curriculum that is balanced, challenging, robust, and practical. Lower preschool uses vertical grouping for one-to-three-year-olds (language, cognitive, sensory, practical life, motor and social skills, CRK, creative arts). Upper preschool covers literacy, numeracy, CRK, practical life, sensorial studies, cultural subjects, music, and French.
Years 1–6 · Nigerian + British + Montessori
Elementary
An integrated curriculum from Year 1 to Year 6 that gradually prepares pupils for Common Entrance while keeping learning experiential, concrete, and meaningful. Courses include language subjects, mathematics, science, humanities, CRK, ICT, French, Yoruba, PE, chess, and enrichment — with Montessori methods richly infused across subjects.
Special education
Special Education Unit
We strongly believe in providing the right environment and skills for every child to succeed. Where expert advice is needed for behavioural or developmental challenges, this is discussed with parents first. This department supports children who require a different method of learning, each with a trained personal teacher so they can unfold as expected.
